Madeleine McCann 'assumed dead' by German prosecutors | The World

German prosecutors believe British girl Madeleine McCann who went missing in Portugal 13 years ago, is dead.

They're investigating a 43-year-old german national on suspicion of murder.

While Madeleine's parents have welcomed this 'significant devlopment', they remain hopeful their daughter's still alive.

Mark Williams-thomas is an investigative journalist and was a detective with Surrey Police for more than a decade - he says the announcement by German prosecutors takes the investigation to another level.
